Tentative Stool

This stool was inspired by the gesture of someone testing the temperature of a pool with their toe.

This gesture was translated into the form of the stool and engineered to support 250 pounds. The use of oak and wedged tenons was necessary to maintain the delicate proportions while remaining honest to the materials.

The unusual angle of the third leg prompts the user to question whether the stool will actually support them, necessitating a tentative approach; the user must first test the water so to speak before fully committing to sit.
