Cherokee is an all wood 6-metre class racing sailboat designed by Olin Stephens in 1930.
In 2008-09 I led a group of students and recent graduates from the International Yacht Restoration School, together we built a replica of Cherokee as part of a living exhibit at the Museum of Yachting in Newport, RI.

We built Cherokee using traditional boat building techniques and materials. Including domestic and tropical hardwoods, cotton caulking, bronze fasteners and canvas cloth.

The finished boat was launched in the Spring of 2009 and competed in the 6-metre World Cup, held that year in Newport.
